Pecunia is a personal finance app for Android and the web, made by Preps233. Pecunia has no servers of its own. Your financial data is stored only on your phone, or in a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive if you choose to sign in with Google. We never see, sell or share your data, and the app contains no ads or third-party analytics.
The information you enter or that the app records for you: transactions (amount, date, account, category, description, payee), accounts and balances, budgets, projects, planned purchases, your display name and currency.
You choose where it is kept:
With your permission, the Android app reads incoming and past SMS on your phone to find mobile money, bank and card transaction alerts. From those messages it records the amount, direction, account, date, payee, fees and balance, plus the alert text for your own reference.
If you choose your Google account, Pecunia asks for your email address (to show which account is signed in) and the drive.file permission. This lets Pecunia create and use only the files it creates. It cannot see or change any other file in your Drive.
Pecunia's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide the app's features to you and is not transferred to anyone else, used for advertising, or read by humans.
On the website, your data is read from and saved to that same spreadsheet. To make the site fast and usable offline, your browser also keeps a working copy of your data on that computer, which is synced with your spreadsheet. Signing out of the website erases this copy, so sign out when you use a shared or public computer.
Some banks and mobile money apps send transaction alerts as app notifications instead of SMS. If you turn on Bank app notifications in Pecunia and give it Android's Notification access, the Android app looks at notifications as they arrive to find transaction alerts, and records them in the same way as SMS alerts (amount, direction, account, date, payee, and the alert text for your reference).
If you turn them on, the app shows a notification when it records a transaction while closed, an evening reminder to log cash spending, and a morning summary of the previous day's spending. The summary is put together on your phone from your own records. You can turn each off in the app or in Android settings.
Pecunia does not create accounts on any server, so there is nothing else to delete.
Data sent between the app and Google uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your phone is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.
Pecunia is meant for adults managing their own money and is not directed at children under 13.
