Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 November 2026

In short

Pecunia helps you track your own money; it is not a bank or financial adviser, so check what it records. Your data stays on your phone or in your own Google Drive. Pecunia Pro is free for 30 days, then a one-time purchase through Google Play, with no subscription.

1.Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Preps233, the maker of Pecunia, of Accra, Ghana ("we", "us"). They cover the Pecunia Android app and the Pecunia website (together, "Pecunia"). By installing or using Pecunia you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Pecunia.

2.What Pecunia is

Pecunia is a personal finance tool. It helps you record income, spending and transfers, read transaction alerts from your mobile money, bank and card providers, set budgets and plan savings. It is for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Pecunia is not a bank, a payment service or a financial adviser. It cannot move money, make payments or access your accounts. Its figures, charts, tips and savings plans are estimates based on what you record, provided for your information only. They are not financial, tax or investment advice. Check important decisions with a qualified professional.

3.Your data and accuracy

Your records belong to you. They are stored on your phone, or in a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive if you choose Google storage. We do not hold a copy.

Pecunia reads amounts, payees and accounts from alerts automatically, and alert formats differ between providers and change over time. Automatic records can be incomplete or wrong, for example a missed alert, a misread amount or a wrong category. Please review what Pecunia records and correct it where needed; your provider's own statement is the authoritative record of your account.

You are responsible for keeping your phone and Google account secure, and for keeping a backup of data stored only on your phone. If you uninstall the app or clear its data without a backup, data stored only on the phone cannot be recovered by us.

4.SMS, notifications and Google access

Some features need permissions you choose to give: SMS access and Notification access (to read transaction alerts), notifications (for reminders and the morning summary), and Google sign-in (to store your data in your own Google Drive and use the website). Pecunia asks before using each one, and the rest of the app works without them. You can withdraw any of them at any time in the app or in your device settings. How each is used is explained in the Privacy Policy.

5.Pecunia Pro, free trial and payment

Some features are part of Pecunia Pro: automatic capture from SMS and bank-app alerts, Google Drive sync and the website, and projects and planned purchases. New users get Pecunia Pro free for 30 days from first use. After the trial, these features stay locked until you buy Pecunia Pro. Nothing you recorded is deleted when the trial ends: data on your phone stays in the free app, and data in Google storage stays in your own spreadsheet in Google Drive and can be moved to the phone in one tap.

Pecunia Pro gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Pro features for as long as we make Pecunia available. We may improve, change or add features, but we will not remove the Pro features you paid for without good reason; if we stop offering Pecunia altogether we will try to give reasonable notice so you can export your data.

6.Acceptable use

Use Pecunia only for lawful purposes and only for your own finances or finances you are authorised to manage. Do not try to break, reverse-engineer, overload or get around the security or licence checks of Pecunia, or use it to access data that is not yours. Please don't resell or redistribute Pecunia.

7.Other services

Pecunia works with services run by others, such as Google Play, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google sign-in and your phone's operating system, and reads alerts sent by your mobile network, bank and card providers. Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or changes. Google Play is also the store through which you get and pay for the app.

8.Our rights

Pecunia, its name, logo, design and code belong to Preps233. These terms let you use Pecunia; they do not transfer any ownership to you. Feedback and suggestions you send us may be used to improve Pecunia without any obligation to you.

9.No warranty

We work hard to make Pecunia reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that Pecunia will be error-free, uninterrupted, or able to read every alert from every provider, or that its figures will be complete or accurate.

10.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of money, savings, income, data or opportunity, arising from your use of Pecunia or from relying on its figures. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Pecunia Pro. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

11.Ending use

You can stop using Pecunia at any time by uninstalling the app and, if you used Google storage, deleting the "Pecunia – Data" spreadsheet from your Google Drive. In the app, More → Clear all data removes your data from the phone and, if you choose, from the sheet. We may suspend access to the website for someone who seriously breaks these terms.

12.Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page and explain any important change in the app; continuing to use Pecunia after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction, unless the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
